Exceptional 19th Century set of 2 heavy and beautifully decorated French Sterling Silver Salt Cellars Hand crafted by DEBAIN, Paris. Not easy to find one of these let alone 2. The Interiors are heavy Blue Baccarat Crystal in excellent condition, again nearly impossible to find today. Being Hand made, there are tiny differences between the pair. I recently had to replace one for a Salt and had it blown in Paris for a cost of nearly $190. Each Salt Cellar is well hallmarked and numbered. 2 Salières, Salts or Salt Cellars by 'Devouge et Duponte, Paris in .950 French Sterling Silver + Baccarat Crystal Liners & matching Spoons.

These Salières or Pair of Salt Cellars was hand crafted by a XIXth Century Master Silversmithin the 3rd part of the XIXth Century, c.1880.

Note the elegant covered Vase the Silversmith chose for the Handle of this with it's 2 Lion's Heads, making it so very unique.

The Design although is simple it is very elegant.

Each Salt is has it's own oval, boat-shaped clear cystal inserts or linere.

Included are 2 original Baccarat Clear Crystal Interieurs. Heavy SEt with the Crystal Liners.

Extraordinary Double Salt, 'Saleron, Salière' by 'Pierre Queille, Paris 1834-1844 in .950 French Sterling Silver + Baccarat Cobalt Blue Crystal Liners

This double SALERON, Salière or Double Salt was hand crafted by a XIXth Century Master Silversmith, Pierre Queille, 1834-1844. When he retired in 1844,his Successor was again one of the most famous Parisien Silversmiths, 'Lapparra' and since Queille retired in 1844 this work of art was creasted in the 1st half of the XIXth Century.

Note the elegant covered Vase the Silversmith chose for the Handle of this with it's 2 Lion's Heads, making it so very unique.

It is overall covered with garlands and beaded friezes.

Each Salt is supported by 4 highly detailed Feet in the form of Hoofs.

Made during the period of Napoléon one sees the Emperor's influence on the Silversmith with the Wreath Decoration which was one of Napoléon's hallmarks.

Included are 2 original Baccarat Blue Crystal Interieurs. Heavy piece with the Silver alone weight 138grams.

Beautifully made with 2 oval Blue Crystal Bowls or liners so the Salt contrasts inside the Interieurs and more importantly protects agains corrosion.

The Silver is clearly Hallmarked by Pierre Queille and with the French Silver Guarantee, the Minerve Head N°1.

Dimensiions, Weight approx.: 15cm Long x 10 cm High x 138gr, the Silver alone.

Included are 2 original Baccarat Blue Crystal Interieurs. Heavy piece weighing about 4700 grams,

Beautifully made with Blue Crystal so the Salt contrasts inside the Interieurs and more importantly protects against corrosion.

The Silver is clearly Hallmarked by Charles Christofle with Christofle Silver Hallmarks and Numbered.

Unsurpassed in Quality and Detail these SALTS are both Practical & Decorative. One of the Blue Baccarat Liners has a tiny pinhead chip. Heavy weighing about 360g without the liners, beautifully sculpted in French Silver, finer than Sterling. Each has its original Blue Baccarat Crystal Liner to protect the Silver and the Blue makes the Salt contrast inside the Interieurs. The Silver is clearly Hallmarked both with several Minerve Head #1 and with the Silversmith, Cosson. CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY of the Silver and the Crystal, overall are exceptional.
