Original creation by the Christofle Workshop in Paris working with the world famous Engraver, Albert Barré to commemorate the discoveries by Christofle in, Goldsmithing, Silver Plating etc. and this Medal was for the Firm's founder, Charles Christofle.

This Medal was awarded to the Firm of Christofle & Co. for the discoveries made by it's Founder, Charles Christofle.

Designed by Albert Barré, a world renowned Engraver, Artist who Signed the Medal below the neck of the Portrait, see larger photo.

The workmanship of the Engraver, combined with the expertise of the Silversmith together with unmistakably Christofle Quality from the Founder of this famous Parisian Firm of Silversmiths will be evident the moment you pick it up, hold it and and look at it.

Hallmarked fom a London REGENT Street Jeweler, one of the World's most prestigious Streets known for the finest Jewelers & Silversmiths. This is a 'Top Quality' Set which weighs a staggering +/- 800 grams, or 26 Troy Oz. Handmade by one of England's most respected Silversmith, each piece was Handcrafted and bears the English Sterling Hallmarks which are clear and deep for both the Silversmith and 1939. Can you possibly imagine that this Set was made just before the 2nd World War.

Very beautifully decorated & each is Hallmarked both by Parisian Silversmith Veissière, Jean at 12, rue d'Enghien Paris, 3rd Arrondisement. Reference is P. 11 Dictionnaire des Poinçons, d’Orfèvrerie. Also, each Brush has the French Minerve N°1 Hallmark indicating its the finest French Silver, finer than Sterling (Reference is the Silver Book, "Tardy, Les poinçons d'argent @ P.199). SUPERB Art Nouveau Unique, very Unusual & Exceptional 'Scottish' Sterling Silver & 'Ivory' Handle Presentation Trowel in excellent condition with one very tiny chip in the Ivory where it meets the Silver of the Trowel. Makes a practical & wonderful Table Decoration & Conversation piece. Very heavy, weighing about 370 grams. No inscription. The Silver has good clear Hallmarks both on the handle and the Blade with 3 Scottish Silver Hallmarks and the Silvermaker's Mark: "R.S. on top of W.S. in 4 conjoined Circles, Quatrefoil, Mark + Glasgow, Lion & Date Letter E" for 1901.

Scottish Silversmiths, world famous, -"SORLEY, SILVERSMITHS, GLASGOW".

Robert and William Sorley were leading Glasgow Jewelers and Silversmiths, received their Mark in 1877.

CONDITION WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are all outstanding.

Very versatile piece, as a Food Server, cakes, deserts, etc. and Decorative.

The inlaid Silver, Gold & Mother of Pearl artistry on the Handle is exquisite and considering its use, this Handle is in near pristine condition. The Handle is made of Ebony Wood and is inlaid with Silver, Gold and Mother of Pearl. It is not signed. The Handle is 8" Long and weighs approx. 140 grams. Practical, Decorative and very Collectible. Probably made Circa 1925 the Service is in remarkably fine condition. Beautifully decorated engraving on the knives and the forks. Handles in Ivory (or Bakelite). Sterling Hallmark impressed on each of the Rings (Viroles) of the Knives and Forks.

Extremely fine XIXth Century massive Silver DISH, probably Continental or German Silver. Dimensions: about 5" x 4".

CONDITION & QUALITY are excellent. Beautifully detailed Tavern scene with many people. Note the fine filigree work and overall detail on the outside edges of this Dish. Use is for Chocolates, Candies, or just decoration. The Silver Hallmarks are at the outside top left edge of the interior scene and I have not identified them.

Detail is very fine as is the quality and weight and in keeping with the excellent reputation of Mappin & Webb. There is a circular solid silver ring discreetly hidden behind the ship's masts which holds the MENU or the NAME or PLACECARD.
